Sanofi Acodin 15 mg 20 Pharmacological Action
Acodin contains dextromethorphan, a well-known cough suppressant. It works by directly acting on the cough center of the central nervous system, decreasing the frequency and intensity of the cough reflex. Unlike some other antitussives, dextromethorphan does not impair respiration or interfere with the function of bronchial cilia—the natural cleaning mechanism of the respiratory tract.
Thus, Acodin is considered effective and relatively safe for short-term use in managing dry coughs.
Indications
Acodin is recommended for the short-term suppression of dry (non-productive) coughs of various etiologies, including:
-
Cough due to viral infections and common colds
-
Pleural cough caused by chest trauma or inflammation
-
Cough induced by inhalation of irritants like smoke, dust, or fumes
It is not suitable for wet coughs involving mucus, as suppressing productive cough can lead to mucus accumulation.

Follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions carefully.
