Calgel gel is a gum lubricant that reduces the pain and inflammation associated with teething. The gel has 2 active ingredients, a local anesthetic lidocaine and a slightly disinfecting cetylpyridine chloride. Calgel soothes gum irritation during teething in babies.
Composition
The active substances are lidocaine hydrochloride ( Lidocaini hydrochloridum ), cetylpyridinium chloride ( Cetylpyridinii chloridum ).
1 gram of gel contains 3.3 mg of lidocaine hydrochloride and 1 mg of cetylpyridinium chloride.
Excipients: sorbitol 70% solution, xylitol, ethanol 96%, glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose 5000, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, macrogol lauryl ether 9, macrogol 300, sodium saccharin, levomenthol, herbal flavor, caramel (E150), sodium citrate dihydrate, citric acid monohydrate , Purified Water.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The drug is used in the oral cavity. The dosage of Calgel teething gel in children and infants from 3 months of age is a small amount of the drug, about 7.5 mm, applied to the gums. The gel should be applied with the tip of a clean finger and gently rubbed into the gums where the teeth are erupting. This treatment can be repeated no sooner than 2 hours after the previous application. Do not use more than 6 times a day.
Action
Calgel gel works two-way. Lidocaine is responsible for the anesthetic properties, and cetylpyridine chloride disinfects. As a result, Calgel alleviates the annoying symptoms of teething.
Indications
The use of Calgel is indicated for inflammation during teething.
Contraindications
Do not use Calgel in patients who are allergic to lidocaine hydrochloride, cetylpyridinium chloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, including chamomile.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Calgel can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very rare side effects (less than 1 in 10,000 patients): allergy (including dermatitis), injection site reactions (including erythema).
Warnings and Precautions
- Chamomile can cause allergic reactions. Hypersensitivity to chamomile is usually manifested by difficulty breathing or anaphylactic reactions after drinking a herbal infusion containing chamomile or by skin allergic reactions to preparations containing chamomile.
- Store the drug at room temperature.
- Keep the drug out of the sight and reach of children.
- Shelf life after first opening the tube: 1 month.
- Calgel contains sorbitol, ethanol, sodium.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
The drug is intended for use in children and infants, it should not be used in infants under 3 months of age.
