Fenistil 1 mg – dimethindene maleate – is a so-called “antihistamine”. Fenistil 1 mg tablets are effective against symptoms of allergic diseases and all types of itching.
This medicine is used for
Itching caused by:
Eczema
Childhood diseases (eg, chickenpox)
Insect bites and stings
Food and drug allergies
urticaria
Sneezing and itching in the nose due to allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis (hay fever).
Itching without a skin disease
If you do not feel better or even worse, consult a doctor.
Active ingredient(s)
Dimethindene.
Fenistil 1 mg tablets should not be taken.
if you are allergic to dimethindene maleate or any of the other ingredients of the medicine
Children-medicines in this class of substances may cause restlessness in young children.
Fenistil should be taken during pregnancy only on special prescription from a doctor. No targeted studies on use during pregnancy have been conducted. It is assumed that a small amount of the active ingredients passes into breast milk. Therefore, use during breastfeeding is not recommended.
Ability to drive and operate machinery
Danger:
This medicine may affect your ability to react and drive a car. Therefore, caution is recommended when operating machines and in traffic.
Fenistil 1 mg tablets contain sucrose, lactose, glucose and traces of gluten.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:
From 12 years, 1-2 tablets 3 times a day.
For patients prone to fatigue, the recommended dose is 2 tablets in the evening before bedtime and 1 tablet in the morning during breakfast.
This dosage form is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Fenistil drops are available.
Elderly patients (over 65 years):
If you forget to take Fenistil 1 mg tablets, take them as soon as you remember, unless there are less than 2 hours left until the next dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and return to the usual dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
STOP taking Fenistil tablets and get medical help right away if you get any of the following symptoms, which may be signs of an allergic reaction:
Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
Severe itching of the skin with a red rash or raised areas, muscle cramps.
Headache, dizziness
Upset stomach, nausea, dry mouth or throat.
Other side effects that may occur are usually mild and temporary. Other common side effects may occur, especially at the beginning of treatment.
