The active substance is zinc in the form of zinc orthonate dihydrate ( Zinci orotas dihydricus ).
1 tablet contains 25 mg of zinc in the form of 157.36 mg of zinc orthonate dihydrate.
Excipients: colloidal anhydrous silica, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone K-30, croscarmellose sodium, talc, magnesium stearate.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The drug is administered orally with a sufficient amount of liquid. Do not combine Zinkorot tablets with food. The tablets can be divided into equal halves. The physician decides about the duration of treatment.
The usual dose of Zinkorot depends on the patient’s age. In adults and adolescents 12 to 17 years of age, the usual dose is 12.5 to 25 mg of zinc, i.e. half to 1 tablet a day. For children 6 to 11 years of age, the dosage is half a tablet a day.
Action
The action of Zinkorot tablets is to replenish zinc deficiencies.

Zinc plays an important role in the functioning of the thyroid gland, development and growth processes, functions of the nervous system and the action of insulin.
Indications

Contraindications
A contraindication to the use of Zinkorot is hypersensitivity to zinc orothonate or any of the other ingredients.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Very rare side effects (less than 1 in 10,000 patients): At the beginning of treatment, zinc salts may cause abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion and diarrhea. These symptoms are more common if zinc is taken on an empty stomach. Symptoms disappear quickly after stopping the drug.
Long-term use of Zinkorot tablets may reduce the absorption of copper, so it is recommended to monitor the concentration of this element in the blood. Long-term use of the drug may also reduce iron absorption.

Keep the drug out of the sight and reach of children.
Use of other medications
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, and about any medicines you plan to take, including those sold without a prescription.
Zinkorot may interact with:
chelating agents, e.g. D-penicillamine, dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMPS), dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA),
iron, copper, calcium salts,
tetracyclines, ofloxacin and other quinolones.
Taking the drug with food and drink
Foods high in phytin (e.g. grains, vegetables, nuts) reduce the absorption of zinc. Coffee can also inhibit zinc absorption.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy:
Zinkorot should not be used during pregnancy, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Breastfeeding:
This medicine is not recommended for women who are breastfeeding.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Do not use in children under 6 years of age and if they cannot swallow tablets.
